Getting Firewood

We are those people. The ones that invite you up for a weekend and then make you work :) Don't judge me! We have lots of fun, even when we are doing hard things, like getting firewood. Usually we try to bribe people into helping by promising them dinner at Agave (a delicious mexican restaurant here in town) or something equally as enticing... like making popcorn and playing Farkle.

Ok so we are lame.

Our usual comrades in firewood gathering are Jed and Adrianne. They have gotten wood with us a few times. See photo.

This year, because we were working so hard on getting a room done in the basement for our exchange student, we neglected our wood-getting until the end of the year. And suddenly we had a teenage boy that "got" to help us get the last few loads of wood this fall. Lucky kid :)

He said he likes getting wood with us, even though it is the hardest thing he has ever had to do. And I'm not gonna lie, I kinda take pride in that. :)

Taylor loves it when Daddy lets her drive.

Finally Feelin the Halloween Spirit

Monday I finally caught the Halloween bug and pulled out our Halloween decorations and decorated the living room. I don't know why it always takes me so long to do, but it does. Anyway, we carved pumpkins Monday night for what I pretend to pass off as Family Home Evening. We went to the store, picked out our pumpkins and a few carving knives and got to work.Netinho has not carved pumpkins before because they don't celebrate Halloween in Brazil. But he liked it. Taylor got a little pumpkin to draw on, but thought it would be more fun to play with the pumpkin guts instead. :) After a quick clean-up we headed upstairs to watch Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin. It was great. At least the first half before our computer froze and we couldn't watch any more. I love carving pumpkins.Adam loves to buy/eat one installment of Halloween candy BEFORE Halloween so we have to buy more at the end of the month for trick-or-treaters... something I just don't understand. But anyway... here are some pictures of our adventure.

Lagoon

The first weekend of October we took Netinho and Taylor to Lagoon and met up with my mom, dad, and Adrianne. We had a blast riding the rides, people watching, and getting soaked. Lots of fun, people. Lots of fun!

They had a really cute Halloween walk for the little kids. It was so fun.

Taylor loved the WWII fighter planes where you can shoot other kids with your tailguns (is it weird that's a kids ride?) and the carousel. We LOVED Wicked. Favorite. Ride. Ever.

And remember when you used to wait in line for the Colossus? Yeah, we walked on to that ride. Three times. Unbelievable.

And we got soaked. Several times. On the raft ride (Is it Rattlesnake Rapids or is that a Worlds of Fun ride?), the log ride (Taylor did NOT appreciate that one) and mom and I rode the thingie that shoots water at you like nobody's business... we got so wet we were squishing water out of our shoes.

We had a great time.We stayed for the beginning of Frightmares, but decided to go home soon after.

Do you quit?

So I have been thinking about doing some drastic things in my life.
Here they are, in no particular order:

1.Either deleting semi-friends on facebook or just leaving facebook all together

2. Starting to blog

3. Deleting my blog.

So how do you like that? Let's start with #1.

1. Deleting friends on facebook/leaving all together:
I tried deleting friends on facebook, but now you have to do it one at a time and after one (sorry if you were that person) I decided it is too much work to delete friends. (Should that even be a criticism? Not sure). So because it is so hard to delete friends and because frankly i'm over it and i spend too much time on facebook as it is, I am thinking about leaving it. And no, I don't want to join your google+ or anything like that...I'm not upgrading or trading over. Just leaving. Well, I am thinking about it. Today. Let's not get too hasty!

2. Starting to blog. yeah, that would be a change around here, right? I really wish I were better at sitting down and documenting what's going on in our lives (because I think we are pretty dang fun and interesting) but by the time I talk myself into sitting down and writing it all out, I am tired of blogging and then I have to find my camera and upload the pics... sigh. I know, it doesn't seem like all that much work but some days, it just is.

i decided to stop capitalizing did you notice? also too much work today.

3. deleting the blog: so this is another thing I've been thinking about. Should i delete the blog? that would get rid of a lot of 'blogger's guilt' but then i think i might feel more guilty about deleting it than just not keeping up with it. sixes you say? I agree. and look, i capitalized again! sometimes i think about blog posts and write them and then delete them because who wants to hear random rantings from this guy? (that would be a figurative "me".) but then how would I keep in touch with all of you fabulous people?

anyway... those are my random thoughts for today.
have you ever struggled with these random ideas? is it a seasonal thing or what?
